In the minesweeper port in Groden, which was completed in 1938, there was a barracks area in addition to the structures required for technical operations. This was probably needed to accommodate the ship's crew units on land. However, training and further education of the units also took place here, and the necessary buildings were available for this. Unfortunately, there is no further written background information about this part of the barracks, so we can only speculate. Due to the development of the port, not much of most of the buildings of the former minesweeper port remains today. Apart from a hall on the grounds of the Mützelfeld shipyard, the only thing left of the barracks part is the drill hall. Today, it is used for loading cars.

As these photos show, training also took place at the minesweeper port barracks. The photos were taken to the east of the barracks, on the wasteland of the former Cuxhaven airport.
